Deven Moodley leads the Financial Services, Value-Added Services, and Mobile division at Pick n Pay, one of Africa’s largest retail groups. His portfolio includes Retail banking instores, domestic and cross- border remittances, lending, insurance, mobile services, and a wide range of digital customer solutions rolled out across stores nationwide.

With more than two decades of experience in both retail and financial services, Deven’s work focuses on integrating practical, inclusive, and scalable fintech solutions into everyday retail environments. His leadership has helped Pick n Pay become the first major retailer in Africa to accept Bitcoin at scale, an initiative aimed at offering greater choice and access in an evolving payments landscape.

He brings deep expertise across four key pillars: Retail Banking innovation at the physical point of sale, the evolution of Payments and digital acceptance infrastructure, the commercial development of value- added services, and mobile-led transformation through MVNOs and connected retail platforms. Deven serves on the VISA CEMEA Merchant Advisory Council and frequently shares his insights at forums such as Seamless Africa, Converge Africa, and Adopting Bitcoin, where his focus remains on practical, customer-centric solutions that extend financial services through trusted retail touchpoints.
